From volunteering to promotion,

the MAD Girls are always on a roll!

We hope you're hungry!

Join the Mankato Area Derby Girls on Friday, June 19 from 5-7 at Buster's in Mankato for a Taco-Tastic Taco Feed! Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 10 which includes all you can eat tacos with a beer or pop.

Tickets are available at the door or from your favorite MAD Girl.

All proceeds go to the MAD Girls, a local non-profit, amateur sports team committed to community engagement and empowerment through sport.

Funds from this season also support the YWCA, Gillette Children's Hospital and the National Organization for Women.

Join us for the next co-ed Fresh Meat session with Mankato Area Derby to recruit players and refs for both our men's and women's teams!

Saturday, May 2nd will be a registration and informational meeting to give you an idea of what roller derby is about and what we expect of you as a member of our league.

Mankato Area Derby is looking for skaters to join the amazing sport of roller derby, with a group of dedicated and active men and women! We want to grow our women's team to include enough skaters for 2 teams or split up into home teams to skate against each other and our men's team is just getting off the ground.

There will be 12 grueling weeks that will transform your life. We will teach you the basic skills necessary to pass the WFTDA Minimum skills test and teach you how to play roller derby. We are looking for hard playing Women and Men to complete our leagues.

We are also on the look out for Referees! Our refs can be women or men!

*Required Gear: Full-backed helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, mouth guard and quad roller skates (no inline). Purchase roller derby or skate boarding quality gear. Don't buy a cheap set of pads and then find out they aren't going to cut it. Your body will thank you.

Roller Revolution and Derby 4 All are both great shops in St. Paul to get gear from. They both sell nothing but derby gear. They know their stuff!! A representative from Roller Revolution will be selling gear at our informational session and will also be available to answer any questions you may have.

For used gear check out Twin Cities Derby Equipment Exchange and Roller Derby Recyclables

At the end of the session you will be tested on basic and derby specific skating skills and WFTDA rules, before being asked to join our ranks.

Stop by Annie's Bubble Tea all day on Wednesday, April 29th, mention that the MAD Girls sent you and 50% of the proceeds will go toward the team!

If you've never had bubble tea before now is the time to try it! Bubble tea is flavored black or green tea made with milk, ice and sugar and is often served with large tapioca pearls called boba. It's lower in calories than a smoothie but just as yummy.

At Annie's you can have your bubble tea with tapioca boba pearls, many flavors of delicious gummy-bear like jellies or juice-filled bobas that pop in your mouth.

Annie's also serves a variety of coffee drinks, milk shakes, slushies and smoothies so you're sure to find something you love!

Huge thank you to Mankato Brewery, Dork Den, all the sponsors, partners, and of course the participants for making this Gaming Gala a big success. We all had a great time, and raised over $1400 dollars.

In case you missed it (and WHY did you miss this?) the Mankato Brewery invited all the MAD girl supporters to help raise funds for upcoming home bouts. It was a remarkable event full of beers, games, silent actions and of course our crazy awesome roller derby gals.

What seemed like an idea that might just work, turned out to be a great time. I know this derby girl votes to make this an annual event.
